I was born in Lima, Peru and came to Santa Barbara in January 2002 to attend college. Over the past years I have had the opportunity to work and volunteer in Peru, Mexico, and the United States, I have gained an understanding of both the countless similarities as well as differences among the many culturally diverse communities residing in Santa Barbara and abroad. Through these experiences I have gained the wisdom of cultural competency and developed a passion for caring for the underserved. Additionally, I have over nine years of experienced as a registered nurse and four years of medical experiences as an emergency medical technician and medical assistant in Santa Barbara. Through these work experiences, I have developed a clinical sense helping me to prioritize patients and tasks appropriately as well as seeking help when help is needed.
Over the years of living in in this Country I have come to love the community and have assimilated into this culture. I believe my life experience has given me the tools to compassionately advocate for and care for people from all walks of life equally. As a Native Spanish I can relate to a large subset of the population in the Santa Barbara area making an already difficult time in their lives a little bit easier. Being an acculturated Latina living in America, I have the capacity to not only provide excellent and compassionate nursing care, but to also bridge the cultural gap ultimately improving the care and health of our population.
Thank you for the consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
