My name is Michelle Willson. I have been a registered nurse for twelve years. I currently work in my local emergency department and attend school full-time to become a family nurse practitioner at Rocky Mountain College of Health Professionals. A few ways I prepare myself to respond to emergencies are to continuously educate myself, practice my skills, and try to learn from my peers when I can. Self-care and exercise are crucial to being the best nurse I can be. I enjoy following the providers around and asking questions to learn the provider roles better and thought processes.

Another way I prepare to respond better to emergencies is when our department has a quick brief after an emergency. We discuss the emergency, what was done, what could have been done differently, and how we will handle the scenario the next time it is encountered.
