Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for EMS

Even for paramedics who have been around for years, the serious pediatric call is one that gets your heart started and keeps it going from dispatch through documentation. Luckily, they are few, but that is exactly why we have to keep up our knowledge base. Parents, teachers and the community rely upon EMS to be the experts, to be able to “save their children.” And with the right knowledge and tools, we can.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support goes a long way in supplying that knowledge. Most medical command facilities require it for medical command, and most paramedics want it for confidence. Our course allows the EMS provider to receive required job training at his or her own pace the information that he or she feels they need most. If the paramedic is confident in Pharmacology, then why waste his time and your money forcing him to review it? If he or she needs some extra time understanding the treatment of hypovolemic shock, then why not give it to them. The downside to those “canned” courses is that everyone must learn the same stuff at the same speed all of the time. That just doesn’t work in the real world. Our online course is set up in a format that permits each individual to meet their needs. They can achieve competence in all of the areas of PALS without spending hours reviewing information that is second nature to them. They can spend extra time in those areas that they feel a need to review in a more in-depth fashion.

Course format

This course is offered in in-person group format and blended format. All our instructors hold current and valid PALS instructor credentials from the American Heart Association and they are registered paramadics.

Skill testing

See our PALS skills form here.

This form is completed by our instructor, a medic instructor with the student's station or a third party instructor we connect the student with. In all cases, the instructor will be holding current and valid PALS instructor credentials.

The student will receive hand-written documentation of the completed skills check and a copy of the instructor’s card. The student will provide this documentation directly to their company’s credentialing department. The student will not receive our certificate of completion until they complete the skills check.

This skills check documentation process is significantly more stringent than American Heart Association, Red Cross and all our other competitors.
